  • Program Associate Experience.

Being a Program Associate for Girls Code the World means that you work to develop a partnership with a community, customize a curriculum plan, work with our Board of Directors to advertise your program, and run a 30-40 hour program for a group of 10-15 students. This requires communication, planning, and leadership as you will be leading initiatives and spearheading program plans, and it is so rewarding! We have opportunities for growth in the organization as well.

  • Volunteer Experience.

Volunteering for Girls Code the World is a very customizable experience. We have had Mentorship Volunteer Interns that craft our biweekly newsletters and organize panels; we have had Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations (MCPR) Volunteer Interns who focus on growing our audience, connecting with school and corporate partners, and get to be creative; we have had Finances and Accounting Volunteer Interns that combine their passion for increasing representation of women in STEM with their skills in finances to help grow our organization; we have had an Education Volunteer Intern that creates curriculum and builds our educational expertise.

  • Mentorship Experience.

We believe that women of ALL ages can offer mentorship and also seek role models simultaneously. Our empowerment philosophy is that you need role models at all stages of your intended trajectory to be successful. We have created a program that will provide opportunities for networking, leadership development, panels, and more.

If you are interested in even learning more about this opportunity, fill out our Mentorship Program Interest Form help us build our network and het ideas for what types of events you would like to see. This is open for anyone of any age to apply to.

  • Project-Based Involvement

Projects are short-term, tangible tasks that an individual or group can work on. If you need nonprofit-certified volunteer hours, we can do so based on the hours you complete for your project.

Lesson Development: create a lesson for either virtual delivery or in-person programming. Gain experience with curriculum development, and get involved with sharing your knowledge with the next generation of STEM leaders.

Workshops: create a workshop for our high school network about a topic of your choosing including: resume writing, college application reviews, how to get an internship, involvement opportunities in college, studying tips, etc.

  • "Girls Code the World lifted me into a position of responsibility that I had seldom been exposed to previously. Meeting so many people outside my own social bubble was an eye opening experience, and I have left this summer with an enlightened view of the world. It taught me that there is still so much I can do to make a positive impact, and I will keep that in mind as I continue to develop my presence in the STEM world."

  • Designed a STEM-based curriculum plan using a Scope and Sequence teaching pedagogy for girls aged 8-12

  • Delivered engineering, computer science, biology, and chemistry lessons to a group of 10-15 girls over 40 hours.

  • Developed communication and leadership skills as I encouraged young students to apply STEM to real-world experiences and inspired them to see themselves as future STEM leaders.
