Why Should You Donate to Girls Code the World?

Not only does Girls Code the World focus on closing the gender gap for women to enter in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, but we emphasize the importance of women being successful and confident in these fields.

We target low-income and marginalized communities because we know that they are disproportionately affected by systemic bias and infrastructure barriers. We continually adapt how we serve these communities based on feedback we receive from families, students, corporate sponsors, and academic partners.

Our organization believes that if people and institutions work towards empowerment, curiosity, and inclusivity, our world will be a better place.

We provided $17,500 worth of scholarships in Summer 2022 alone.

93% of the students whose families’ applied for or were nominated by a teacher to receive scholarships to attend our 2022 Philadelphia summer programs were Black, Indigenous, or Latinx.

Our 2025 Funding Priorities

We have four strategic projects we are fundraising for in 2025:

#1: Defining Our Identity

GCTW is proud to focus on supporting women and girls in lower-income communities. In 2025, we’re doubling down on this mission by streamlining our efforts, creating clear plans, and strengthening the foundation of our work through inclusivity and empowerment.

A strong identity means we can better serve those who need us most. A clear direction allows us to focus on what truly matters - providing the resources and opportunities that uplift women and girls to overcome barriers and pursue STEM with confidence.

#2: Building Our Partnerships

We believe in the power of collaboration to drive meaningful change. In 2025, we are committed to building partnerships with schools, community organizations, and corporate leaders. These relationships will allow us to expand our reach, unlock new resources, and create opportunities for the girls and women we work with.

Partnerships are more than just collaborations - they are a way to build a network of support that strengthens our mission. By connecting with like-minded organizations and individuals, we are creating a united effort to uplift underserved communities.

#3: Increasing Accessibility

In 2025, GCTW is launching a low-cost, subscription-based program that will open new doors for the communities we serve. This initiative is a step forward in making our programs more accessible to all girls.

The subscription program is our commitment to innovation and inclusion. By continually refining our approach, we can ensure that as we scale up, we do so in a way that is sustainable and impactful. This is how we turn small steps into big changes.

#4: Strengthening Our Leaders

Our leadership should reflect the diversity, resilience, and passion of the communities we serve. That’s why, in 2025, we’re expanding our board to include a Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and a Director of Fundraising Strategy. These new roles will bring fresh perspectives and expertise to our team as we navigate this exciting chapter.

But we’re not stopping there. We’re also researching ways to continue diversifying our leadership and ensuring that our decisions are guided by voices from all walks of life. We know that a team that represents our mission is essential to driving real and lasting change.
